MDL 2100 – Yasmin and YAZ (Drospirenone) Marketing, Sales Practices and Products Liability Litigation Yaz lawsuits are currently consolidated  in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois. U.S. District Judge David R. Herndon is now overseeing 9,961 federal court Yaz and Yasmin lawsuits consolidated from across the country. According to Bayer’s 2nd Quarter 2013  report just released recently, Bayer has agreed to pay more than $1.4 billion in settlement of  an estimated 6,700 lawsuits the following Yaz Injuries:

  •     Deep Vein Thrombosis from Yaz or Yasmin

There are over 5,000 additional lawsuits pending involving  venous or arterial thrombosis and embolism injury. Bayer is continuing negotiating each injury  on a case-by-case basis, after presentation of the claim by a Yaz  attorney. According to a 2012, FDA warning, women who are prescribed Yaz, Yasmin, Beyaz or Ocella are more likely to develop potentially fatal blood clots than users of other common birth control pills, according to a 2012 warning from the FDA.

The New April 2012 Warning Has Re Set the Clock For Yaz Lawsuits

Yaz has been shown to cause Strokes

A stroke occurs when blood supply to part of the brain is disrupted, causing brain cells to die. Blood flow can be compromised by blood clots. The FDA has demanded  new  stronger  Yaz  warnings for blood clots.

The Yaz Lawsuits, Yaz Lawyers Filed Lawsuits for Yaz Complications

In January 2012, the Honorable David Herndon,the presiding judge  over the  Bayer Yaz, Yasmin birth control pill lawsuits, postponed the first scheduled Yaz trial and ordered the case to mediation. The settlement may pay upwards of $110 million to settle numerous lawsuits over claims that Yaz birth-control pills caused blood clots. A  $110 million settlement for 500 cases  will pay an average of about $220,000 per case to resolve the claims that  Yasmin birth control pills  and Yaz contraceptives caused fatal blood clots that lead to heart attacks and strokes, Pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis. The FDA has  demanded increased warnings on yaz and yasmin for blood clots.

What is a Blood Clot

Blood clotting is important but, some blood clots can travel and be life threatening. If a blood clot dislodges and travels to the brain, it can cause a stroke. Blood clots in the  leg veins are called deep venous thrombosis. These blood clots can dislodge and move. to the lungs.

Yaz has been shown to cause pulmonary embolism in women taking yaz Birth Control Pills

Yaz birth control increases the risk of pulmonary embolism. A pulmonary embolism is a blood clot in the lung which causes a blockage to the artery in the lung. Blood clots can travel and end up in the lungs as a pulmonary embolism or brain resulting in a stroke. A stroke occurs  when a blood clot or ruptured artery or blood vessel interrupts blood flow to an area of the brain. A blood clot can state as a deep vein thrombosis. A deep vein thrombosis  is a blood clot that forms in a vein deep in the body. Blood clots occur when blood thickens and clumps together. Yaz has warning fro blood clots. These blood clots can travel causing series injury and fatalities.

Yaz Pulmonary Embolism Risk Is Based on the Blood Clot Risk

The estrogen in combined-hormone contraceptives such as Yaz and in other hormonal treatments increases the risk of blood clot formation. Blood clots are the most frequent cause of pulmonary embolisms; a pulmonary embolism occurs when a blood clot in the body breaks free from the site where it formed and travels to a lung. The risk of blood clots any place in the body can result in in a  blood clots traveling and can be fatal. A pulmonary embolism is one of the most frequent causes of in-hospital death.

The Symptoms of a Pulmonary Embolism
