Yaz has been shown to cause pre-mature heart attacks in Young women. Yaz has been proven to raise potassium levels, thus raising heart attack risks, more than any of its predecessors.
The risk from a potassium induced heart attack is so great that federal drug regulators demanded that the drug’s manufacturer, Bayer, include the information on the drug packaging and labeling.
Young women by the hundreds have suffered devastating heart attacks after taking Yaz. Too much potassium in the body is called hyperkalemia. Potassium is released into the blood when cells are damaged, usually by infection or burn, chemotherapy or renal failure. Some medicines can impair potassium excretion, such as amiloride (diuretic), Bactrim (antibiotic) or cyclosporine (immunosuppressive). Hyperkalemia affects the heart and causes EKG changes, ventricular fibrillation and cardiac arrest. Other symptoms can include tingling in extremities, weakness and numbness. Hypokalemia is when there is too little potassium in the body, usually cased by diarrhea or diet deficiency (including anorexia or bulimia). Hypokalemia can cause cardiac arrhythmia, muscle pain and weakness.
Too Much Potassium can cause heart Atttacks
To much potassium can be harmfull and elevated potassium levels in the body can cause irregular heart beats. Potassium is an electrolyte and electolytes effect the hearts. High potassium can lead to changes in the electrical conduction of the heart. High potassium may be a result of various health conditions and medications. If left untreated, patients may experience changes in heart rhythm that can be life-threatening. In some instances, changes in heart rhythm can result in a myocardial infarction, otherwise known as a heart attack.
